From the CEO’s desk

Dear readers,

I would like to begin this newsletter by extending our deepest condolences to those affected by recent terrorist attacks across the globe, from Turkey to Belgium, Yemen to Syria, Iraq to Pakistan, Ivory Coast to Tunisia and those other parts of the world where innocent people have lost their lives or have been forced to flee their homes due to the horrors of conflict and persecution.

The extensive list of countries that have experienced terrorist attacks in March alone may come as a surprise to some readers; however, the list above is a shortened version.

These horrendous attacks serve as constant reminders that those countries that are lucky enough to operate without the threat of civil war and unrest need to continue to assist with the refugee crises that are occurring across the globe at present.

With increased scrutiny and spotlight focused upon European Union border policies in the wake of the Brussels attacks, this month’s issue outlines the background of the Syrian conflict and the danger in linking the refugee crisis with the terrorist attacks and any perceived failure by the European Union to adequately deal with the number of refugees fleeing Syria in search of protection and safety in Northern Europe.

We reiterate that you can continue to assist AFFMA during 2016 by donating directly to our organisation via PayPal to ensure that the high level of service our volunteers offer to refugees and asylum seekers can continue to be provided.

I would like to remind all readers that our permanent volunteer lawyer and transformational life coach continues to offer complimentary business and leadership coaching to business people and those aspiring to start their own business whether in the migration field or any other field.

Thank you again for reading and for your valued support and I trust that those of the Christian Faith celebrating the Easter festive period over the past month had an enjoyable break. I also wish well those of other faiths that celebrated equally important religious festivals over the past month.

One last housekeeping point, we apologise for the technical error which saw last month’s February newsletter go out with a March title.
